When we first heard about shoes made from elastic bands, we braced for some kind of unseemly clodhoppers like Granny used to wear.
But Acrobats of God — strappy Italian masterpieces with heels crafted from raw wood in four heights for summer (two for fall) — are hardly for little old ladies.
The footwear collection was created by Nicole Brundage, a Texas-born designer with an art-centric lineage (grandfather: famous sculptor in Mexico; uncle: prominent New York gallerist; mother: avid collector of beautiful clothing) and a resume that includes stints at Giorgio Armani, Manolo Blahnik, and Zac Posen.
Brundage launched the brand last year and describes it as “a way of expressing the extraordinary in the ordinary.” Translation: Shoes might be something you wear every day, but these aren’t your everyday shoes.
Summer styles are light and airy and come in wear-with-anything colors like black and tan. Fall will bring a fresh, snug look for booties in taupe, yellow, chocolate, and gray.
