Ask ten friends to single out their favorite pair of boots, and you’ll get ten different answers — until you introduce them to Penelope and Coco, designer Marisa Spinella’s new line of footwear.
We presented Spinella’s modern combat boots to our editorial team, and to our surprise, production manager Jay (whose sense of style is Americana classic) and photo editor Nicola (more of an avant-garde Agyness Deyn type) dove for the same pair.
That’s because the collection expresses the two sides of Spinella’s personality. Penelope’s an eccentric, vintage-inspired beauty, while Coco’s got a fiercer edge. The five styles within the first collection play on those ideas and range from the studded black leather Capone ($484) to the delicate, floppy Riina ($468, pictured), complete with brass hooks for lacing.
Each shoe is handmade in her studio in Los Angeles. The only hard part is settling on the right pair.
