When one of our own does something special, we want to shout it from the rooftops. We’re modest like that.
But even if the new travel website Fathom wasn’t the brainchild of former DailyCandy editors Pavia Rosati and Jeralyn Gerba, we’d sing its praises.
Rosati and Gerba, whom we’ve long considered walking guidebooks, had a simple goal: create the travel site they want to read as travelers. Instead of characterless, luxury hotels (or hostels, for that matter), think charming bed-and-breakfasts. In addition to trendy restos, get the best pasta ever down that narrow alley to the left.
Through inspiring, oft-hilarious first-person essays called postcards (much like the stories you tell your friends when you get home) and comprehensive but carefully curated city guides (NYC, London, Berlin, and the Hamptons so far), the site’s a go-to whether you have a trip planned or your destination is still TBD.
Now if only we could sweet talk our way into their frequent flyer miles.
