Often when you catch a whiff of l’eau de indie, you can pick out top notes of biker jacket, last night’s rock show, and an air of disillusionment.
Now that IndieScents.com has launched, you can sniff out Smell Bent’s leathery Desperado, MCMC’s tobacco-y Hunter, and Portland-based Softeistanz’s new Im Nebel, which captures the essence of fog.
The new site is a destination for any fragrophile out to discover the latest and soon-to-be greatest from small, independent producers; it’s a breeding ground for cult hits like unabashedly floral oil Zuzuz Petalz and the conceptual collaborations of the Art Collection by Jacomo. We found the in-depth descriptions, in layman’s terms, steered us right, but if you can’t commit to a bottle, order a sample (most are less than $5).
Created as a complement to LuckyScent.com (where we regularly drool over established labels like Comme des Garçons, much-talked-about Odin and Nanadebary, as well as historical lines like Bois 1920 and Auguste), the site’s average price is around 50 bucks, which smells like a good deal to us.
