Workout gear. It’s all fun and games until you try wearing it to brunch.
Cue Hannah Griswold and Yesim Philip, the duo behind tennis-inspired label L’Etoile Sport.
The athletic pair’s New York-based line pits fashion against function with winning results. Philip played professional basketball in Turkey and hits the tennis court about ten hours a week. Griswold, who lived with the American Ballet until age 17, makes wardrobe picks based around her love of the game.
Pleated skirts and dresses, sleeveless pique polos, and lace-trimmed stretch shorts (for layering or wearing solo) pass muster in the preppiest arenas. Zip-away skirts, sleek boatneck tees, and moisture-wicking Italian fabric blends spur stuff-shirted onlookers to step up their fashion game.
They’re serving clothes that pair as well with tennis shoes and rackets as sandals and Sunday mimosas.
That’s a match.
Available at letoilesport.com, $75-$325.
