The next person that tells you to channel your inner goddess is going to get a deeply spiritual punch in the nose. But a pair of Ariana Bohling sandals does, we have to admit, have a certain deifying effect on the wearer.
Handmade in the designer’s Brooklyn studio, the entire spring collection consists of just 40 pairs, making them highly covetable. The styles are named after Greek heroines: Niobe, a cross strap made of python; Rhea, a braided lambskin in black or taupe; and Aurora, a futuristic gladiator in python.
Bohling gets her materials from New York suppliers of the best European skins, so the quality is top notch. The sandals all have flat, leather soles and are made according to traditional leather craftsmanship, complete with hand-stitching and a pressed flower logo, so they’re sturdy and comfortable.
She sees her wearers as a modern extension of a mythic tradition. We call them heaven.
